This piece took me FOREVER to do. Every night I worked on prints and although I'd dedicate my time to a different one each night, I worked on this one a little each night. It was my first experience on Photoshop without line, so it was a big challenge for me. The face alone took forever to finish, and I will probably post detail shots of it later.

This one I knew I wanted to do from the very start. I *LOVE* Auron. He's just so freakin' cool... he is by far my favorite character of the Final Fantasy series, simply because his attitude and character is so mysterious, yet in-depth, and he's so comfortable with who he is. When you meet him in FFX, you know exactly who he is and at the same time know nothing at all. It's awesome.

Those of you who have finished the game know that Auron is an unsent. He describes briefly that after the fight with Yunalesca (where she struck a fatal blow), he crawled down Mt Gagazet and died. Kimhari found him and made sure to carry out his last wishes-- protect Yuna. The image is of Gagazet, where Auron fell, and his makeshift snow grave. Auron's sword doesn't have any ribbons to blow in the wind so in my mind it's one of Kimhari's red ropes tied to it in tribute. As Auron "rises" (it's never really explained how unsent "rise") and leaves, pyreflies escape from his footsteps.

The title is a name of a song by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, which is an awesome song. I saw it used in an FFX AMV once and it fit Auron perfectly. If you ever get the chance, listen to it. It's great.

All in all I have some touchups to do (I ran out of time) but otherwise I like it.
